Artist's Description

John Martin was a soldier in the American Revolution who died on February 14, 1843 at the age of 105. He also served in the Cherokee War of 1755 and was wounded in the head by a tomahawk. He was buried at the Magnolia Cemetery in Augusta, GA with the revolutionary war cannon that he supposedly brought back from the war.
